Pure Imagination
One of the too-often overlooked gems among Glee performances. The contrast and combination of Jenna, Cory, Kevin, and Chris singing together here is gorgeous, and it is one of the times the show makes spot-on use of Chris singing in the higher range. And Jane’s reaction shots are pure gold, showing that while she is known for over-the-top-Sue-crazy, her immense strength comes from her subtle emotional performances.I know people talk all the time about Jenna not being given a lot of solos or songs, but the songs she is given to sing are among the best the show does. And on more than one occasion, she’s given a lead vocal role in a song that is key to the story/plot. For instance: True Colors; Dog Days Are Over; Born This Way. In the first 3 years, when she was used, it was to excellent effect.

The Diary of Anne Frank
“Lea Michele creates an Anne that is very real indeed. She resists the temptation to make this precocious early teen too attractive and too ideal. She’s an awkward, gawky kid to start, charming in her enthusiasm and optimism but just a bit irritating as well. She matures throughout the evening at a measured, believable pace.” (x)
